Discover Nice and the Baie des Anges

From Apart’Hotel AMMI Nice Massena (ex Ajoupa)

Welcome to Nice, capital of the Côte d’Azur. You’ll be seduced by its many, many charms, from vestiges of an eventful history to a special climate and sought-after radiance. In the Jardin Albert I, take a break with all but the murmur of the sea to be heard. Just as in the 19th century, you’ll find the fountains, the vast lawns, the bandstand and the outdoor theatre, all against an open backdrop of roses and palm trees. All but a short distance away is Old Nice, with its markets and its Baroque buildings in the Cours Saleya, the Palais Saleya, and the Rossetti Cathedral. From the castle hill, accessible by lift, you’ll be able to enjoy a superb 360° view over the Baie des Anges, the town and the mountains of the Mercantour National Park.

Chagall and Matisse, who both painted Nice so many times, quite fittingly have their own museums up in the Cimiez neighbourhood, which is equally full of Victorian architectural treasures. At the MAMAC contemporary art museum, 10 minutes on foot by the famous Promenade du Paillon, you’ll be able to admire works by the Nice School, right by the magnificent Place Garibaldi with its arcades and trompe-l'œil façades.

The nearby Promenade des Anglais, which straddles the Baie des Anges, has grown up with the city since 1820. The coastal path has become urban road at certain points of its length via multiple transformations. With a constant breeze caressing such landmarks as the Villa Masséna (home to the local history museum), the Promenade stretches from east to west in a smooth bend, acting like an elegant viewpoint over the sea.
Whether a work of art or a natural phenomenon untouched by humankind, beauty reigns supreme here as far as the eye can see!
